Last week I found out that I'm dyslexic.
Actually, I kinda knew already because in class I keep going blank. I can still move and see but I just can't think of anything!
I try really hard, it's impossible to concentrate. I'm so slow to finish my work. Even when I'm not talking to my friends I get dragged into a conversation. I just about manage to keep up in class. I often have to use extra time to finish my work.
My teachers say I'm doing okay but they don't know how hard I find it to keep up. I am exhausted by the end of school and feel like a flat Whoopee-cushion.
Here's some silly things that happen:
- Words jump on the page - I can't pin them down even though I do Judo!
- Numbers turn into other numbers - like identical twins that look the same but aren't.
- Letters won't stay in the right order - they are spelt right on the board but get jumbled up on my page.
- I'm full of great ideas - they vanish when I go to write them down.
I've decided to write this blog to share how I feel about my dyslexia. Hopefully other kids will read it and know that they are not alone and laugh with me along my journey.
Welcome to my world. Welcome to my dyslexic dur-brain!
